EPL 통산 도움 8위 밀너, 1도움 추가 시 베컴과 동률 EPL 8th in total Assist, Milner

리버풀은 12일 열린 웨스트햄 유나이티드와 2018/2019 잉글리시 프리미어리그(EPL) 1라운드 개막전에서 모하메드 살라, 사디오 마네(2골), 다니엘 스터리지 연속골을 앞세워 4-0 대승을 거뒀다.

이날 밀너는 중앙 미드필더로 출전, 전반 추가시간 크로스로 마네의 골을 도우며 팀 승리를 뒷받침했다. 1도움을 추가한 밀너는 EPL 통산 79도움으로 8위를 유지했다. 앞으로 1도움만 더 추가하면 맨체스터 유나이티드 전설 데이비드 베컴(80도움, 7위)와 어깨를 나란히 한다.

밀너가 베컴을 넘는 건 시간문제다. 개막전부터 도움을 올렸고, 전방에 마네-호베르투 피르미누-살라까지 확실히 골잡이가 버티고 있다.

EPL 통산 도움 1위는 맨유의 또 다른 전설 라이언 긱스(은퇴)다. 162도움으로 압도적 1위다. 111도움으로 2위인 세스크 파브레가스(첼시)가 현역으로 뛰고 있지만, 긱스를 넘는 건 쉽지 않을 전망이다.

TOP10 중 현역으로 뛰고 있는 선수는 파브레가스, 밀너, 다비드 실바(맨체스터 시티), 웨인 루니(DC 유나이티드)까지 4명이다. 실바는 75도움으로 10위에 올라있다. 103도움으로 3위인 루니는 에버턴을 떠나 미국 무대에 진출했다.

Liverpool's James Milner (32) is heading for the legend.

Liverpool won the opening match of the first round of the 2018/2019 English Premier League with West Ham United on Sunday, winning 4-0.

Milner played as a center midfielder on the day, helping Mane score goals in extra time for the first half. Milner, who added one assist, maintained eighth place with 79 assists in EPL. With just one more assist from now on, Manchester United legend David Beckham (80 assist,  seventh place) will be next to each other.

It is only a matter of time before Milner crosses Beckham. He has been helping since the opening game, and is definitely holding onto the front line from Mane-Firmino to Salah.
