Comfortably dealt with Palace's set-piece efforts but could only watch Townsend's shot crash against the crossbar. Saved second half from Milivojevic and Benteke. Came through his test impressively.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

The outlet down the right, saw a lot of the ball but was let down by some iffy deliveries into the area. Defended solidly, however, and improved. Booked for a foul on Zaha.

Virgil van Dijk 9

Helped encourage centre-back partner Gomez throughout the game and dominated Benteke to the point the striker was hooked. His height was such a bonus at set-pieces at both ends of the pitch.

Joe Gomez 8

Great tackle to deny Zaha on one Palace counter and read play well. Unruffled by the home forward line, his partnership with Van Dijk continues to grow.

Andy Robertson 7

Caught out when too close to Wan-Bissaka, a mistake he didn't make again. Found more space in which to break forward as Palace pressed after the interval. Decent.

Gini Wijnaldum 8

In the nominal holding role, kept play ticking over in midfield, helped deal with the long balls and always made himself available for a pass. His engine showed no signs of spluttering.

James Milner 8

Industrious enough with a smattering of quiet class. One robust but fair challenge left Zaha upset. Caught by Van Aanholt, though. Composure to convert from the spot. Subbed for a deserved rest.

Naby Keita 7

One brilliant turn sent Townsend for the ECHO and his subsequent ball forward should have resulted in a goal. But a slack one then prompted a Palace attack that saw them hit the bar. Good in patches.

Mohamed Salah 8

Should have done better with his lob when released by Keita. But despite not at his best, still earned a penalty from Sakho, provoked a clear red card for Wan-Bissaka and provided an assist for Mane.

Roberto Firmino 6

Dropped deep so often that it must have been a required tactic from Klopp. Decent enough in possession but not at his sharpest. Improved a bit after the break, though.

Sadio Mane 8

The visitors' biggest threat going forward. Thwarted after one good run down the left and always willing to mine the left flank. Quieter second half but got through a ton of work until brilliantly tucking away the second.

Jordan Henderson (for Milner 67) 6

Kept things ticking over in midfield.

Adam Lallana (for Keita 88)

His hair the only real highlight of his late cameo.
